About the print:
This is a professionally printed giclee produced from one of my drawings. The print is made with UV pigmented inks that are
lightfast and durable, rated to last 150-200 years. The artwork is printed on white, fine art 210 g/m2 matte watercolor paper by
Hahnemuhle . The paper is acid-free with 50% rag. It has a natural white finish with a slightly-structured soft-textured surface.
There is a 1" border around all four edges of the artwork, allowing for easy matting and framing.
About the artwork:
This
giclee whimsically combines two of my favorite styles
- abstraction and photorealism - into a brightly-colored,
delightful piece that sings with color and imagination.
nature
nonpareil, the abstract painting providing
the background for Dum-Dums,
was painted in 2006. I spent that summer on a
beautiful hilltop in southern France, surrounded
by lush views and plenty of nature. My abstract
paintings have been heavily influenced by my panoramic
surroundings as well as my up-close observations
of plants and insect life. I have termed my new
series of nature-based abstracts my Anicca series.
Anicca is a Pali term meaning impermanence. Like
the Impressionists, I am deeply influenced by
the changes in the scenery around me caused by
the changing position of the sun and atmospheric
changes such as wind, rain, and fog. These paintings
depict the ever-changing quality of nature; its
unpredictability, raw form, and constant flow.
This painting depicts thick foliage and lifeforms
amongst tree branches and expresses the concepts
of multiplicity, abundance, and change.
