About the print:
This is a professionally printed giclee produced from one of my drawings. The print is made with UV pigmented inks that are
lightfast and durable, rated to last 150-200 years. The artwork is printed on white, fine art 210 g/m2 matte watercolor paper by
Hahnemuhle . The paper is acid-free with 50% rag. It has a natural white finish with a slightly-structured soft-textured surface.
There is a 1" border around all four edges of the artwork, allowing for easy matting and framing.
About the artwork:
This
is a highly-detailed, vibrantly colored piece inspired
by Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
I combined the simplified black outline of a skull
with my usual funky abstract style to create an artwork
that is vivid, boisterous, and jubilant. I like the
paradoxical juxtaposition of the classic image of
death and mortality - the skull - portrayed amidst
colorful abstract forms and intricate designs, which
express the fullness and joy of life.
