It is quiet here.
On any given day,
the primary sounds are
wind rustling
leaves of trees,
chirping of birds and
crickets,
buzz of bees,
far-off barking of
dogs or
braying of
donkeys,
grunting of grenouilles.
The only reminder
of society
is the
faint hum
of distant traffic.
With the absence of
television,
stereos,
advertising,
neighbors,
mobile phones,
and other
people-centered
distractions,
life almost
seems still.
But
simple observation
reveals otherwise.
On any given day,
the world is
bustling with
the dance
of the butterflies,
sometimes frantic,
sometimes flowing.
The floating of wasps
from flower to flower,
grasshoppers sunning or
munching on leaves.
Buzz of flies and slow long
march of snails.
Red spider mites
dot the ground as
various spiders
of different sizes
and colors
crawl
along the earth.
And the ants,
the ever busy ants.
Life is busy without us.
Life carries on,
whether we notice it or not.
These photos capture
tiny bits of nature
up-close
with careful detail.
The activities of the small
are enlarged.
The everyday
becomes specific.
Each moment
is
no more important
than
the next.
.....
There is beauty
and elegance
in the details
that
quietness
and
contemplation
can reveal.
There is activity beneath
the surface, movement
beneath our feet,
under the leaves,
in the flowers,
on the ground.
The world carries on,
whether we are
aware of it
or
not.
