My abstract paintings from 2007 to
the present continue to explore the
possibilities of piling an abundance
of visual information into relatively
limited space. The style continues
to mature in the form of heavily-
detailed, colorful patterns and designs
that mesh into a powerful poise
between chaos and order. The work
can be described as both "tribal" and
"psychedelic", reflecting an interest
in absorbing and interpreting the world
through non-intellectual means. For
me, the colors and chaos paradoxically
induce a quiet mental stillness as I
allow my eyes and mind to trail the
many details without the common
present-day yoke of assigning meaning
to every single thing. Thus the artwork
has become a means for inner healing.
Through the use of harmonious colors
and whimsical patterns, the viewer is
allowed the space and freedom to
set aside the mind's constant 'inner
babble' in order to allow the purely
experiential flow of undefined visual
information to flow unencumbered
through the mindstream.
